OUTREACH & MISSIONS
The SCFI was established as a non-stock, non-profit organization that would benefit first the dermatology residents in training. Funds are used to purchase equipment such as its 5-header microscope, microscope digital camera, computer and LCD projectors, dermatologic instruments, cautery machines, textbooks and other materials needed for the residency program, as well as topical medications given out to charity patients at both Victoriano Luna Medical Center and Ospital ng Makati. True to its roots in charity clinics (SCF started out servicing St Martin de Porres Hospital, the Fort Bonifacio Naval Hospital, and Quirino Memorial Medical Center), the residents and faculty have recently conducted monthly dermatology medical missions to various depressed areas in Malabon, Cavite, and Muntinlupa. They also actively participate in the yearly PDS Skinweek (National Skin Disease Detection and Prevention week, every second week of November) at free clinics at San Pablo, Laguna and Alfonso, Cavite.
